My passion to make a difference in the field of aging began when I became the primary caregiver for my grandmother. It was truly the hardest job that I took on! I was extremely exhausted and stressed because I was ill prepared and had difficulty accessing appropriate care. I thought I was alone. When in fact, 90 percent of caregivers are unaware of resources that can help them make critical decisions and provide proper care. Because I had to continuously advocate for my grandmother, I quickly learned that the U.S. healthcare system wasn't prepared to meet the needs of older adults. Although the United States is one of the most advanced country when it comes to medicine, it is still struggling with providing high-quality care to older adults. Rather than providing high-quality care, services is often delivered by many different providers without coordination. As a result, many older adults aren't getting their needs met and caregivers are struggling with their growing responsibilities. To help improve the quality of life of older adults, I have spent the past 28 years advocating for older adults as a Geriatric Social Worker.

But one day, I asked myself, “How can I improve the delivery of care for older adults on a macro-level?” and “How can I share my 28 years of experience and knowledge in the field of aging with more people?” The answer was “Technology.” This is how SeniorHabitat was created. Rather than having caregivers feel ‘left in the lurch’ and having to “battle the system,” I created a platform that empowers care connections by using technology to improve continuity of care and provide better access to support services. It serves the individual needs of older adults through interactive, intelligent-driven care solutions.

Similar to my mission as a Geriatric Social Worker, SeniorHabitat’s mission is to improve the quality of life for older adults by enabling access to a comprehensive, fully integrated network of care providers and services.
